The municipal work school

The Municipal Work School of Akranes is in operation during the summer months, i.e. June, July and August. All young people who are in grades 8 -10 in the primary schools and whose legal domicile is in Akranes can apply for a job with the Work School. Adolescents who are 17 years of age are also guaranteed a job for the summer. The duration of the work period can vary between years.

The Municipal Work School of Akranes supervises work-related studies that are offered to accommodate students who do not seem at ease with pursuing traditional studies. Work-related studies are a collaborative project between the Work School, the primary schools, parents and students.
