Sjómannadagurinn 2023
Sjómannadagurinn verður haldinn hátíðlega helgina 3-4. júní. Þetta er kjörið tækifæri fyrir bæjarbúa til að kynnast og gleðjast yfir hafinu sem umlykur bæinn okkar. Rifjum upp gamla tíma og fögnum þeim nýju tengingum og tækifærum sem við höfum sannarlega myndað við hafið.

Saturday, 3. júní.
10:00 – 18:00 Guðlaug baths by langasandur – Free admission.
12:00-15:00 – Akranes lighthouse – Free admission.
Celebration at the Akranes folks museum area!
10:00-17:00 Icelandic Blacksmiths – See how metalsmiths work and get to know the craft.
11:00-13:00 Good old games (Visitors can try out oldschool Icelandic games, such as: Jumping bag, boot throwing and tug of war).
11:00-17:00 Akranes folks museum – Free admission! Take a look at our Permanent Exhibition The story is traced from a small fishing village in the 17th century to a modern town with a population of close to 8000. You can even try fermented shark if you dare.
11:00-13:00 Reykjavík street food – Truckswith some delisious food!
11:00-13:00 Akraness bowling club will make theire amazing fishsoup!Fundraising for an upcoming trip.
12:00-13:00 Lunch consert, Amma og úlfarnir will playfor guests at the museum.
14:00-16:00 Sigurfari sailing club of Akranes - Open house at the harbour area – Try out all kinds of watersports!
Sunnudagur 4. júní
10:00 – A memorial service in the Akraness Cemetery at the monument to the lost sailors.
10:00 – Sjóbaðsfélags Akraness will meet people at Langisandur for those who want to take their first swim in the sea.
10:00 – 17:00 Akranes folks museum and Blacksmiths – Free admission.
10:00 – 18:00 Guðlaug baths by langasandur – Free admission.
11:00 – Fishermens day mass at Akraneskirkja. Flowers kaud at the sailors monument at Akratorg after the ceremony.
12:00 – Jumping competition at Hopplands, Bakkatúni 5. Prizes will be awarded for the most original and fun jump! Registration at hopplandehf@gmail.com.
12:00-15:00 - Akranes lighthouse – Free admission.
13:00-14:00 – Fishing competition offered by Frystihúsið on Sementsbryggja, prizes will be awarded for the biggest, smallest, funniest, cutest and ugliest fish.
13:30 – Kellingar at fishermans day – Storywalk lead by Kellingar, starting at Akratorg.
13:30 – 16:30 Bakesale at Jónsbúð - Akursbraut run by the Accident Prevention Department of Líf. All are welcome.
14:00-16:00 Celebration at the Akranes harbour area!
Bouncy castles, boat building, fish to explore and much more.
Rowing competition hosted by Nítjánda. Starrting at 14:00
Reykjavík street food – Street food trucks with some delisious food!
Björgunarfélagið will have many great things on display, boats at sea – Guests can go sailing and other fun activities.
Sigurfari sailing club of Akranes - Open house at the harbour area – Try out all kinds of watersports!
Blue Water Kayaks Guests can try kajak or SUP. For safety, there will be an age limit on boats and SUPs (10 years+).
Akranes gymnastics club FIMA will have a shop open.
